Day 1 - Airplane and Jerusalem

First flight was delayed but it was great. The second flight was okay, it was very long. Most of us slept while others watch movies. You know that joke about the airline food? I get it now. The initial reaction to seeing the landscape surrounding the airport, and on the way to Jerusalem, was one of deja vu; reminding several of us of the southwest United States and California. We got on our bus which kind of looked like an ant, and made our way to Jerusalem. We made short lived friendships with passengers in nearby buses on the way. We collapsed in blissful numbness in our hotel rooms for about 20 minutes before dinner. At dinner, we had the best Hummus ever, along with some different types of chicken. After dinner, we got back on the bus for a long 3 mile bus ride to Mt. Scopus, where we learned about the history of Jerusalem and Mt. Scopus in an emotionally empowering way. We learned Yerushalayim Shel Zahav, by Naomi Shemer and learned the midrash of two brothers on Mt. Moriah. We went back on another hourlong bus ride and discussed our plans for the next day. To say we're tired is an understatement, but we're excited for tomorrow's adventure.
